Lauren and Ryan have been together since they were 19-one of those couples that are just perfect together. Lauren’s family loves Ryan and basically everything is great as they begin their adult lives together and get married. But 6 years in things aren’t so great anymore. It’s a lot of little things built up until one day they realize they don’t love each other anymore. What to do? They decide to take a one year separation, during which they won’t contact each other, and they will see if they can figure out what happens next.
That sounds like a pretty depressing premise, and I have a happy marriage and don’t really love about reading marriages failing, but somehow the tone of this was not gloomy. It was heartfelt, realistic, and honest. It was nice that both Ryan and Lauren were flawed people.
I enjoyed this very much and look forward to reading other titles by Reid.
