The Cupid Chronicles by Coleen Murtagh Paratore

cupid.jpgWhat an unexpectedly lovely book! The banner across the top reads “The Wedding Planner’s Daughter”, and it is a sequel, or possibly part of a series? Willa lives on Cape Cod and loves Shakespeare, reading, and believes in Cupid. Apparently in other book(s) she’s matched up the significant adults in her life. In this one, she wants to match herself up with a boy called JFK. Equal, if not greater, time is given over to the story of Willa trying to save her town’s library. A very quick read, super to recommend to the younger end of YA –absolutely no sexual innuendo, bad language, or anything. In fact, I’d even go with some mature 4th graders liking it. Not a tremendous romance, not a deep read, but there were some very touching moments and I really loved how Willa cared about her her community and reading, how she was age-appropriate, and how she got along with her parents.
